Homemade Pesto!

Introduction

Originally from the Italian city of Genoa, pesto has become a popular sauce worldwide. Although primarily used to dress pasta, pesto can be used with a variety of other foods, ranging from pizzas to salads. The word comes from the Genoese verb pestâ, meaning to grind or crush, as its ingredients were traditionally ground together using a mortar and pestle, although this recipe uses a blender. I chose pesto because of its versatility, and I've made pesto for many food-related school projects in the past. (It's also what I believe to be the best dressing to use on pasta!)
